Support
A question about Covrd, a bug to report, or help with your account. We're here.
We aim to respond within 48 hours. You can also use the Covrd Support conversation inside the app — replies there come from our support assistant, with anything it can't handle escalated to the team.
Frequently asked questions
How do I delete my account?
Open the app, go to Settings → Danger Zone → Delete Account. You'll be asked to confirm. Account deletion is permanent — your account, profile, contacts, codenames, and stored media are removed from our servers within 30 days.
Messages you sent in conversations with others may remain in those conversations as part of the recipients' chat history, but will no longer be associated with your identity. They will appear as "Deleted user."
How do I block someone?
In a one-to-one chat, tap the chat title at the top to open chat info, then scroll to the Privacy section and tap Block. The other person won't be able to send you messages.
To see and manage everyone you've blocked, go to Settings → Privacy → Blocked users. From there you can tap Unblock on any contact to reverse it.
How do I report a message or user?
Long-press any message in a chat and tap Report. You'll be able to choose a reason and optionally add details. Your report is reviewed by our team — usually within 48 hours.
To report a user without referencing a specific message, open the chat info screen for a one-to-one chat and tap Report user under the Privacy section.
What are anonymous groups?
Anonymous groups are private invite-based group chats where everyone gets a randomly assigned codename and avatar colour instead of their real name and profile photo. Members can talk freely without their real identity being visible to other group members.
The mapping between a real account and a codename is stored on our servers but cannot be seen by other members of the group. Group creators may optionally enable an "admin-visible" mode where they alone can see the link — when active, all members are notified upfront.
Are my messages encrypted?
Messages sent through Covrd are protected in transit using TLS — the same encryption used by web banking and most messaging apps. End-to-end encryption is in development and will be added in a future update.
Until E2E ships, treat anything you send through Covrd as you would a regular text message. Full details on what we store and how are in our Privacy Policy.
I lost my phone or got a new number
Covrd accounts are tied to your phone number. If you've kept the same number on a new phone, sign back in and you'll regain access. If you've changed numbers, email support@covrd.chat with details and we'll help you recover or transfer your account.
How do I add a contact?
Open the Contacts tab and tap the + button at the top. You'll be guided through finding contacts who already use Covrd from your phone's address book (with your permission), or you can invite someone by sharing your Covrd link.
Contact phone numbers are matched using a hashed lookup — we never see your full address book.
How do I leave a group?
Open the group, tap the title at the top to open chat info, scroll to the bottom, and tap Leave Group. In anonymous groups, leaving means you can no longer see the conversation, and other members will see your codename's last visible message but no new messages from you.
What about disappearing messages, view-once messages, and stories?
Disappearing messages are deleted automatically from our servers and from all participants' devices after the time the chat is set to.
View-once messages can be opened by the recipient one time, then are removed.
Stories are visible for 24 hours and are then deleted automatically.
How do voice notes in anonymous groups work?
When you send a voice note in an anonymous group, your audio is sent to Microsoft Azure's speech service, which re-synthesises the message in a different voice — one you can pick from the chat info screen. Recipients hear the synthesised voice, not your real voice. Your original recording is deleted after synthesis. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
