Who we are

Covrd is operated by James Vann, based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. References to "we," "us," or "our" in these terms mean the operator of the Covrd app and website at covrd.chat. References to "you" or "your" mean the person using Covrd.

Acceptance

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise using Covrd, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use Covrd.

Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Covrd. By using the app you confirm you meet this age requirement. If we learn that someone under 17 is using Covrd, we will remove their account.

Your account

You're responsible for the activity that happens on your account. Keep your phone secure — anyone with access to your phone may be able to access your Covrd account.

You agree to provide accurate information when signing up and to update it if it changes. Don't impersonate another person or create an account using someone else's phone number without their permission.

Acceptable use

When using Covrd, you agree NOT to:

• Send content that is illegal, threatening, harassing, defamatory, hateful, or that promotes violence
• Send sexual content involving anyone under 18, or any content that exploits or endangers minors
• Use Covrd to harass, bully, intimidate, stalk, or threaten any person
• Send unsolicited bulk messages, spam, or commercial promotions you don't have permission to send
• Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with anyone
• Attempt to identify, deanonymise, or expose another user's real identity inside an anonymous group, including by sharing screenshots outside the group with the intent to identify a member
• Attempt to access another user's account, messages, or data without authorisation
• Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, or use automated tools to interact with Covrd in ways not provided by the app itself
• Interfere with or disrupt the service, including overloading our servers or attempting to bypass rate limits, security controls, or access restrictions
• Use Covrd to send malware, phishing links, or other harmful content
• Use Covrd in any way that violates applicable laws or the rights of others

Your content

You keep ownership of the content you send through Covrd. By sending content through the app, you grant us a limited licence to store, transmit, and display that content as needed to operate the service (for example, delivering your message to its recipient). This licence ends when the content is deleted from our servers.

You are solely responsible for the content you send. We don't pre-screen messages, but we may review and remove content that violates these terms after it has been reported to us.

Reports, blocking, and moderation

Covrd includes built-in tools for blocking other users and for reporting messages and users. We review reports submitted through the app and may take action including warning a user, removing content, or terminating an account. Repeated or serious violations may result in permanent account termination without notice.

When you submit a report, we receive a snapshot of the reported content and the reporter's account information so we can investigate. Reports are retained for moderation history, including after either party deletes their account.

Beta software

Covrd is provided "as is" during beta. End-to-end encryption is not yet active. Until it is, treat anything you send through Covrd the way you would treat a regular text message. We may change, suspend, or remove features at any time during beta without notice.

Termination

You can stop using Covrd and delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Delete Account).

We may suspend or terminate your account if we believe you have violated these terms, if your conduct creates legal or safety risk for us or for other users, or if we are required to do so by law. Where practical and appropriate, we will tell you why.

When your account is terminated or deleted, your account data is removed from our servers within 30 days, subject to the retention rules described in our Privacy Policy.

Disclaimers

Covrd is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against all attacks, or that messages will be delivered without delay. We are not responsible for the content other users send to you.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of Covrd, including loss of data, loss of business, or emotional distress. Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Covrd will not exceed the amount you have paid us in the previous 12 months (which during beta is zero).

Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Covrd after changes are posted means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Dubai, UAE, unless mandatory local consumer-protection laws give you the right to bring a claim in your country of residence.
